Today the Hartford Courant
reported UConn To Hire 275 New Faculty Members In Next Four Years
The article noted that : The university plans to hire 65 faculty members
to begin in the fall, with another 90 hired by the fall of 2013. The majority
of the hiring effort will be funded through a four-year tuition increase plan
that was passed by the university's Board of Trustees in December. The plan,
which increases tuition by between 5.5 percent and 6.25 percent each year, will
generate about $50 million to go toward hiring, according to Michael Kirk,
spokesman for the university. That figure will have to be further supplemented,
Kirk said, but he wasn't yet sure by how much.

A WIN FOR
WALKER – UNIONS – NOT SO MUCH!
As recently noted in Analysts See Broad Implications In
Walker's Win « CBS Minnesota “After more than a year of
fighting, Wisconsin’s Republican Gov. Scott Walker survived Tuesday’s recall vote,
winning 53 to 46 percent over his Democratic challenger, Milwaukee Mayor Tom
Barrett. “ As Walker
is the only governor to win such an election, some analysts say this marks a
big defeat for unions. And a historic win in the national spotlight just may
catapult Walker ’s political career.” Others also

On the local front, as Governor Malloy defends Donovan's response to campaign investigation,
it is interesting to reflect on the actual 14 page Federal Affidavit which can
be accessed at BRADDOCK
complaint . On Pages 5 and 6
reference is made to Co-Conspirator No. 1 defined as CC-1, a series of phone
calls, an exchange of money, and the following comment by CC-1
“It’s a game that lucky enough I’ve got the contacts to play good in it.”
In the article by CTMirror.org captioned Union removes officer implicated in
illegal contributions it is noted that “A correction officer was
removed from a union leadership position Saturday after being identified as
involved in the delivery of FBI sting money for illegal donations to the
congressional campaign of House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan, D-Meriden. “In
stories posted Friday night, The Courant and The
Mirror identified ……. the treasurer of AFSCME Local 387, as "CC-1,"
an unnamed co-conspirator alleged in an FBI affidavit to have arranged illegal
campaign contributions.”
The Republican American
Newspaper Reported today in their article Check leads to donor Republican
American that “A Waterbury woman appears to have made the contribution
at the heart of a federal corruption investigation into the congressional
campaign of House Speaker Christopher G. Donovan. “Dana Graziano,
a local bank manager who lives in Parkview Condominiums on Park Road, donated
$2,500 to Donovan's congressional campaign in April, federal election records
show. “But it appears Graziano was a straw donor,
according to the federal affidavit used to support the arrest of Donovan's
financial director, Robert Braddock, last week.”
It was also reported late
yesterday in the article Party returns check following FBI sting
| WTNH.com Connecticut that “The Connecticut State Democratic
Party has returned a $2,500 check it determined was part of the FBI illegal
campaign contribution sting in the Chris Donovan campaign case. “So far
Republicans have returned checks and the State Democratic Party has returned a
check all connected to the big sting operation at the state capitol that
resulted in the arrest of House Speaker Chris Donovan's Congressional Campaign
Finance Director Robert Braddock Jr.”
And while the Donovan Scandal
has been unfolding - yesterday it was reported that the Feds Search Seymour Property &
Others In CT, MA, and PA. Valley
Independent Sentinel Staff noted that “agents were from the federal
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. “Special agent Jim McNally,
the public information officer for the ATF,
offered few details Tuesday. ““We’re conducting enforcement operations in Massachusetts
, Connecticut and Pennsylvania ,” McNally said. “McNally said
no arrests were made Tuesday, and the investigation is
“ongoing.” The Connecticut Post reported the investigation may involve
illegal tobacco sales.

It is hard to believe that today
we learned that Cash flow report sparks fears state may
need to borrow to pay bills on time, when only a few days ago
a battle was brewing to keep Governor Malloy from giving a
Communist Party affiliate $300,000 in State Bond Money which would have added
to the State’s growing debt at $71 Billion.
Our hat is off to the Yankee Institute – which led the charge – and
writes: Though the Malloy Administration last week signaled
its intent to provide the New Haven People's Center, home to the Connecticut
Communist Party, with $300,000 in taxpayer funds, Gov. Malloy reversed course on Monday during
the State Bond Commission meeting and removed the effort from consideration.
The decision came days after Gov. Malloy's spokesman defended the plan to
subsidize Connecticut 's Communists, telling the New Haven Independent,
"The governor thinks it's a worthwhile project." After Yankee
Institute investigative reporter Zach Janowski blew
the whistle on the project and followed-up with dogged reporting, Bond
Commission members state Sen. Andrew Roraback and
state Rep. Sean Williams raised more questions about the grant. State Rep.
Chris Coutu and state Sen. Len Suzio
helped organize veterans groups to speak out against this waste of taxpayer
money.

On June 4, CNN Reported that Supreme Court justices back city in
property tax dispute In their report, CNN noted that Indianapolis
“Homeowners who wound up paying thousands more dollars in special taxes than
their neighbors for the same sewage service found no relief at the Supreme
Court on Monday. “The justices, by a 6-3 vote, upheld the decision by city
officials in Indianapolis
to deny refunds for some residents who paid their assessment fees up front, while
forgiving the remaining taxes of those choosing an installment plan. Chief
Justice John Roberts, in a tough dissent, said the result was a "gross
disparity."
